How dark spots develop

Dark spots occur when the skin produces too much of the pigment melanin in certain areas. The most common triggers are:

  • UV light: sun exposure is the main trigger for sun spots and age spots.
  • Hormones: pregnancy, the pill or menopause can cause flat, patchy pigmentation (melasma).
  • Age: over the years, pigment distribution becomes more irregular and age spots appear.
  • Inflammation and treatments: spots, irritation or aesthetic treatments can leave dark marks. You will find suitable care in our collection skincare after laser, peels & Botox.

What a dark spot serum does

  • High concentration: a serum contains brightening actives in higher concentration than a cream.
  • Light texture: it absorbs quickly and can be combined with any cream.
  • Targeted: it works where excess melanin forms and visibly reduces existing spots.
  • Prevention: used regularly, it helps prevent new pigmentation.

Our dark spot serum: Skin Lightening Serum

The Skin Lightening Serum from the BioChange line visibly evens out the complexion:

  • Beta-White: a brightening peptide (oligopeptide-68) that reduces excess melanin production and visibly lightens dark spots
  • Vitamin E: protects the skin as an antioxidant against free radicals
  • Inositol and glycerin: provide balancing moisture
  • Light serum texture for use morning and evening

Beta-White belongs to the group of peptides. You will find more serums with peptides in our collection peptide serum.

Your routine against dark spots

Frequently asked questions about dark spot serums

  • How long does it take for a dark spot serum to work?
The skin renews itself in a cycle of around four weeks. First visible results usually appear after several weeks of regular use morning and evening.
  • Serum or cream against dark spots?
Ideally both. The Skin Lightening Serum delivers the actives in high concentration (TREAT), and a brightening cream such as the Luminous Pearl Extreme seals them in (CLOSE).
  • Does the serum also help with age spots?
Yes. Age spots are caused by UV light and excess melanin. Beta-White visibly lightens them with regular use, provided you protect your skin consistently from the sun.
  • Can I use the serum in summer?
Yes, but always with SPF 50. Avoid sunbeds and intense sun exposure during the application period.
  • Does the serum help with melasma?
Melasma is hormonal and particularly persistent. A brightening serum can visibly reduce the patches as part of your daily care. For pronounced melasma, we recommend dermatological advice.
